Deutsche Welle TV: New window on the Arab world
The Deutsche Welle German TV decided to increase its transmission hours in Arabic language as of April 2, 2007. The DW-TV decision to increase the broadcasting hours from 3 to 8 hours came as a step in a long-run strategy adopted by Deutsche Welle for dialogue with the Arab world.
A delegation from Deutsche Welle TV paid a visit to Egypt and met with Information Minister Anas El-Fiqi to get acquainted with the Egyptian media experiments. The delegation discussed the possibility of producing a joint program with the Egyptian television.
For his part, Mostafa El-Saed, director of the DW-TV Arabic program, stressed the importance of cooperation with the Arab TV stations. He noted that DW-TV does not aim to compete with Arab stations whether local or regional as it aims at competing with western Arab-speaking stations.

The 8 broadcasting hours will include 6 daily news bulletins tackling political, economic, cultural, social and sporting developments. Also, the talk-show Quadriga program discussing four Arab reporters on the week's key events will be broadcasted on the DW-TV.
Programs of DW-TV Arabia includes many political, economic, scientific and cultural magazines such as Euromaxx Magazine. The DW-TV programs can be received in more than 20 Arab countries through Nilesat and Hotbird 6 between 07:00 p.m. and 04:00 a.m. C.L.T.
